Swamp Thing first appeared in 1971 and has since taken on various reincarnations, the most recent of which describes " his" origin as a plant which morphed into the creature. The creature's body is composed of amorphous vegetation which can reshape itself into its original form after injury as was the case in its battle with the Soulless Man in #67.
